Dirty Fences is a New York-based punk rock outfit known for reviving the gritty, high-voltage sound of 1970s NYC with a fresh modern edge. Formed around 2009 by high-school friends who later relocated to Brooklyn, the band quickly carved out a space in the underground rock scene with fast riffs, sneering vocals and pure basement-bar adrenaline .
Early influences like The Ramones, MC5, The Stooges and Johnny Thunders shape the backbone of their sound — raw, loud, unapologetic — while classic rock elements give them a swagger that sets them apart from most contemporary punk acts . Dirty Fences don’t imitate the past — they amplify it.
The band made their official recorded debut in 2012 with an EP via Volcom Entertainment, followed by their first full-length album Too High to Kross (2013), a buzzing dive-bar rocket bursting with energy and catchy aggression .
Their second album Full Tramp arrived in 2015 through Slovenly Recordings, cementing the group’s identity as loud-hearted garage-punk revivalists dedicated to pure, sweaty rock ’n’ roll. Songs from this period became fan favorites thanks to blistering tempos and chant-ready hooks .
In 2017 the band released Goodbye Love, bringing tighter production, cleaner songwriting and even a guest appearance from Christina Halladay of Sheer Mag. It showcased a more melodic but still sharp-toothed side of Dirty Fences, proving the band wasn’t afraid to evolve while staying true to their roots .
Dirty Fences have earned praise as relentless live performers, touring the U.S. and Europe with minimal breaks — the kind of band that thrives on loud rooms, sweaty crowds and shared chaos. Their dedication to the road has helped them build an international cult following drawn to their authenticity and attitude .
For new listeners, standout tracks like “All I Want,” “Kilsythe,” “White Lies,” “Heaven Is Tonight” and albums like Too High to Kross, Full Tramp and Goodbye Love serve as the perfect introduction. Dirty Fences remain one of the most spirited modern voices of old-school punk — fast, fun, and beautifully filthy .
